Especially in a knit garments its very sincerely related to understand the fabric requirements for maintaining production operations.

Therefore we search, study and derive a short effective calculations way that is how to calculate Fabric consumption for a Polo Shirt.

Fabric Consumption Per Dozen (CPD) for a Polo Shirt (Body + Sleeve): Most Commonly Used

Length = 77 cm

[72 cm (HPSL) + 5 cm {In Bottom Hem Sewing Allowance = 3 cm (Seam Allowance = 2 cm + Sewing Allowance = 1 cm} + 2 cm {In Collar (Rib) Sewing Allowance}]

+ 30 cm [25 cm (Sleeve Length) + 5 cm {In Sleeve Hem Sewing Allowance = 3 cm (Seam Allowance = 2 cm + Sewing Allowance = 1 cm) + In Armhole Sewing Allowance = 2 cm}]

= 107 cm

Width = 100 cm (Chest) + 6 cm

[In Side Seam Sewing Allowance = 3 cm (1.5 cm + 1.5 cm) × 2]

= 106 cm

So Final Consumption in Kg per Dozen

= (Length * Width * GSM *12) / (100cm * 100cm * 1000gm)

=(107cm * 106cm * 170 *12 pcs) / (100cm * 100cm * 1000gm)

=2.31 Kg (for both Body & Sleeves) + 7% to 10% wastage allowances

CPD (Consumption Per Dozen) for Collar & Cuff:
Collar (Per Dz = 12 Pcs)
Cuff (Per Dz = 24 Pcs)
We can Use 400 gm (Collar) + 300 gm (Cuff) = 700 gm Fabric for per dz Polo Shirt or 60 gm (per set / per pcs) for Collar & Cuff × 12 pcs = 720 gm Fabric for per dz Polo Shirt

Generally on an Average 700 to 750 gm/dz Fabric Used for Collar & Cuff (Including Wastage).
